 There is an email I received from what looked like PayPal saying my usage of paypal would be temporarily shut down because of suspicious activity
They gave a link to Paypal asking me to verify my paypal info. When I clicked on the link my security system warned me about going there. I then went to Paypal.com and logged into my account. No problems at all. They were trying to get my password for paypal. Be wary of this email

 All legitimate emails from PayPal will include your full, real name, John Doe. Anything else is not from PayPal and do not click any links.

 I have been getting those emails every week or two for awhile. I have never clicked on the provided link instead logging into PayPal normally. My account always looks fine. I now just delete the emails.

The easiest thing is to never click on a supposed paypal link. If you get something that might be from paypal, log into your account and see.

The Paypal dongle, which gives you a six-digit PIN when you press the button, makes your account more secure. You (or a hacker) can still log in without it, but only after jumping through extra hoops. At a minimum this makes your account more difficult to hack. I keep these with me pretty much all the time: the paypal dongle, a pair of 15 dB Etymotic "musician" earplugs, and a FIPS-encrypted USB stick with a fingerprint scanner. The stick is for keeping a relatively secure copy of files I don't want to lose.

 I get these emails and I don't even have a Paypal account. Any email telling you to verify you security information should be suspect. Legitimate companies don't do this. If you think there is a problem, contact them through their known website or phone. I would never click a link supplied by an email for any company.

 A classic scam and definitely not limited to Paypal. Never answer an email like this especially if they want you to confirm a pass word.
