Hi Members,
I only post here occasionally, but I post frequently and have been a longtime member of the Audiogon community with 100% feedback. I recently purchased a used McIntosh MC 402 amplifier from these creeps, and had the worst experience I have had with an audio purchase, whether retail or private seller.
As is often the case, these stories and all of the attendant details could go on forever; and I don't want to bore you or myself. I just want to caution anyone who reads this to stay away from these creeps at all cost.
I found the amp through the Audiogon classifieds, and seeing their company name, Redfli, I did a google search and found them quickly. They have a brick and mortar store in Fort Wayne, Indiana.Their website is plastered with BS about their incredible customer service, which is exactly the opposite of what they deliver. Phone calls and emails go unanswered, etc. The main guy in charge, Jared, is, in my opinion, a complete idiot with no clue about what customer service means.
The heart of my problem was that I bought the amp after reading their return policy, and when it failed to gel with my system, I called within 10 days (30 day return policy) and was told it could not be returned, even though it was neither a sale item, or a discontinued item (2 disqualifying factors mentioned in the return policy). It was a trade in from a customer, which was listed on their own receipt as "used".
Oh, and one more thing, they also cheated Audiogon. They bypassed them in the transaction completely by selling to me directly. I didn't know this until I tried to leave them feedback; and yes, I did report them to Audiogon. I guess once a cheat, always a cheat.
In keeping with his piss poor "customer service", and even though I never yelled, cursed or used insulting language, Jared constantly spoke over me, refusing to let me state my position clearly, as well as twice refusing to let me speak with the owner. I finally agreed to return the amp with a 20% restocking fee, because I realized that after paypal and Audiogon commission fees, I would end up with the same or less money.
I have dealt with many fine companies during my 40 years in audio, and believe me, these creeps are to be avoided. They are not one of the good guys. After my experience with them, I consider them to be liars and thieves with no business ethics.
