 Some years ago, after buying a Decware SE84C I wanted more power. Then I got interested in the paramours still liking the SET sound...with a little more power. Then I moved on to a low powered Push Pull amp, having "15 to 20wpc". Well now I'm going to set up a system in the garage & after using a Toshiba portable ( old ) radio & then the paramours with some propped up Realistic Minimus-5, there is no comparison! For now I have the Paramour's hooked to a pair of Polk Audio TSi400 in a small room with the sub off & they're sounding pretty good! Plenty of volume with good bass! Now, when I hook them up in the garage with some Klipsch synergy SB-III's rated @ 94db/wpc they should really sound good! I'm just waiting on a preamp I bought with an integrated tuner & phono input, I already have some speaker wall mounts and an old cd player. funny thing is I thought I had no more use for the Paramours & was even thinking of selling them. Now I'm glad I didn't!

 I too still have my Paramours and like you also have a PP amp. Have you ever thought about experimenting with bi-amping with the Push-Pull on the woofers and the 'mours on the tweets? Don't know if your present speakers can accommodate this but it might be an interesting experiment to try if you wanted to go down this road further with a different set of speakers. I'm tempted to go down this route myself with an Altec 414/802 two way but am unsure how a PP amp will mesh with a SET amp. I suppose there is only one way to find out.....

 Good call!

Way too much audiophilia is (IMHO) based on slavishly following one guru or another. Listen for yourself! If you hear something different from expectations, then you have learned something; and if you share it with the community we will all benefit in the end.

 ....just got hold of a set of Altec 32C horns.... I guess I gave in to my temptation to try this ....I'll see how it goes

You are in for a lot of fun. I run a GPA 414 with a TAD 2001/LeCleach horn. I ran it with an active crossover for a while with a p-p amp on the woofer and set amp on the CD/horn. Lately, I'm enjoying the Joe Roberts style of letting the 414 run full range and crossing the CD/horn in around 7200-7500 with a cap and Lpad. Both ways sound great to me and it just depends on whether you like your vocals from the horn or the 414.

I run a Paramount 2A3 on this setup and it works great for me in my small 10X13 room with the speakers corner loaded. I may revert back to the active crossover arrangement later when I get bored.

 Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to use the paramours in a garage system with some klipsch bookshelf's rated @ about 94db/sen. I will also turn the sub back on with the TSi400's when I putt the PP amp back.

Most of the vocal fundamentals, both male and female are coming from the 414 either way.
