I'm looking at a Darling that uses 1626 tubes (0.75W out). I have a pair of 2-way 94dB sensitive speakers. The speaker boundaries are odd (so, I assumed they were pulled away from the walls to be conservative). I sit about 8' away. Several SPL caculated the peaks at 85-90dB, pretty high. That would fit with what i hear from my 1.5W type 45 monos, which can be way too loud, over 90dB when i made the calculations. I don't plan to use the amp for big classical music, mainly chamber music, solo instruments, small "pop" groups playing mildly.

Does that sound about right as a crude estimate. Ceilings are low, wall behind speakers slopes upward.

Thanks

Don't forget, you gain 3dB with a pair of speakers.

Sounds about right, assuming good performance at .75W output.

If you really want to be sure, you could put a scope across the terminals of the speaker you want to use, then see how loud .75W gets ya.

Don't forget to convert your p-p volts on scope to RMS to figure power.
