Well I've got the Version #2 of my 26-26 DC 45 amp up and running last night. For now I'm using the Hammond 125ESE's for OPT's, I'll wait until I get all the voltages tested and ran in, before I switch to the E-P OPT's.

I did notice the Version #2 amp isn't as quiet as the Version #1 amp.
Ver.#2 has a Hi frequency buzz that come in and out( Off and on ) of both channels. At turn on the buzz is louder then after a minute or so it gets quieter. At 3/4 volume you can hear a buzz in the background ( On and OFF), but never goes away...... With Ver.#1 I get a lower buzz at startup but after a minute or 2 it really fades almost completely away...

I blame those little DC to DC converters for Hi pitched buzz on Ver.
#2. So after running the amp most of the afternoon at a nice volumes
the buzz is still there, so I think I'm going build 2 more LM338
Adjustable boards and ditch the little DC to DC converters.

After that it's just a matter of switching the Electra-Print OPT's over to the Version #2 amp and put the Hammonds on Version #1..... Then the real tweaking starts on version #2........I got the ver.#1 where I was quite happy with it's performance,. I hope Version #2 turns out even better !

Here's Ver. #1

Onward !

That's an interesting design. I'm sure it will sound great once you get the usual bugs worked out. Don't take what I'm about to say as a criticism of the design, but it doesn't serve a purpose to orient the transformers at 90 degrees (first photo). The magnetic fields are still in the same plane. One of the transformers would need to be mounted vertically to achieve the desired cancellation.

Thank you TK for your comments..!

Yes I have, maybe on more than one occasion, mounted Transformers at
an angle. Not always for cancellation purposes........

But in this case those Hammond OPT's are only there temporally. I
plan to install that pair Electra-Print OPT's in their place. I'll
also remove the Blue Masking tape before installing the E-P's.

Have fun
Willie
