Tube complement for Sun Audio 6V6SE

 A friend of my told me that he wants to try 5U4G tubes (rectifiers!) with his Sun Audio 6V6SE amp - he allegedly saw it with 5U4G tubes in a photo.

I made an Internet search and there is no much information, but think he is utterly wrong - the picture he saw most probably shows VT-52 tubes, but they have nothing to do with 5U4G rectifiers.

Shall I warn he not to do this?

 See link . It uses a 5AR4/GZ34 . Apart from the higher filament current draw of the 5U4G vs the GZ34 , there is also the higher internal resistance which will mean the operating points of the valves will change . A 5U4G should work and make the amp sound different but probably not in a good way
