You keep coming BACK - to listening to that amp. That's so cool Willie !!

Everyone notice the image of you, on the second Type 26 from the left??

Can you position the input signal wire to the right RCA jack to be in front of all the 26s, so it was farther away from the two Ef power XFRs and their fields?

I LIKE your short runs from RCA jacks to input tube's grid, smart, superb.

Jeff

Hey hey, That is a two stage DC SE DHT Type 45 amp !! His very FIRST electronics BUILD !! Quite a start.

Half a 12AX7, DCed to the grids of a EML's new GLOBE Type 45s, on Horn loudspeakers, in London, UK. Avantgardes .

His circuit has ALL the things in it that the text book boys, who never heard it, like to "wag their tongues" about to discredit others on this Forum. All the while, these tongue waggers typically have zero direct experience hearing it, and NOT A CLUE as to understanding why its so good.

He has owned many deluxe SE amps.... prior to this one !! I think he LOVES it ! Eh Barry ??

Loving the 2504 Bill, a very interesting selection of tubes.
Not sure I've come across 350B before.
What speakers are you using?

Loving it to death, a far cry from the Ultrapath I used before and the 845 amp previous ( do all 845s sound the same, they do to me).
Will be listening to a NAT 211 amp this weekend to offer opinion on.
It will be interesting to hear the difference.
On Avantgardes these 45 amps sound so realistic and detailed. With plenty of power on tap. I haven't hit the end stop yet. Vocals just soar and the depth to sounstage with the globes is cavernous.
Huge smile around here.
Smart.

They now stand upright though, it's nice having the midrange cabinet detachable, lots of options. Pair of TAD 1601A's for bottom end with Martinelli wood horn/ JBL2470 as driver and tweeter JBL2404

...after replacing the test bed Hammond 123ESE OPT's with Electra-Print OPT's.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing... I stayed up till 1:00 am listening to familiar tunes.

The stark difference in the presentation of music, between a quality OPT vs. the 125ESE , is something that I cannot deny !.....

But again, I say the 125ESE is a good starting point.

Now it's time to start on version 2.0 of the 26-26 DC 45 Stereo amp!

Have Fun!
Willie

Doing some testing for an upcoming amp. I turned off the lights for the photo, the filament lights up the whole room.

that doesn't need special easy-to-drive speakers to sound good. 85dB sensitivity, BAH, I laugh at 85dB! 6-way crossovers, BAH, bring on the 7-way!

Thanks! Probably 5-7 watts I am guessing, depending on if it's running 300B or 50s as the output. Currently using it to drive Edgarhorns from 300hz and up with 2 or 3 drivers (2 horn drivers + optional horn tweet). Sonically I like it a lot. I think I like 50s better than 300Bs. The 75TH as a driver has a ton of punch and is super clean - almost too clean.

thanks for the interest
-Ed
