This is the first time I have visited that web site and I am very impressed with the list of amps he has built, laid out in reverse chronological order with the word "completed" as a hyperlink to details and lots of pictures of the amps.

Great stuff to browse.

Geoff

IME, Min was helpful and seemed to a be genuinely kind person.

There are a few builders who would be willing to build you a SET amp, probably with (what I think is) better quality than what Min has delivered in recent times. Search the forum for builders - James Burgess is one name that springs to mind.

Cheers.

What a shame for the price his kits were excellent.

TubesUSA is building some really great looking new gear. I bought one of their 45 amps second hand some years back, and it looks and sounds wonderful. I see from their Facebook page that they just completed a pair of amplifiers with the type 50 tube. I wonder if they are going to be doing any commission work going forward?

As a followup, Dennis Had is also producing some interesting amplifiers that are up there on Ebay.

I am pretty sure he's dead.

TAL filled a niche that appealed to many people: decent sound from classic designs at reasonable prices. I'm sorry to see him go.

I sincerely hope not - he would be a sad loss.

I have one of Will's amps and I love it. I was just thinking of something new from Min.

I have a Burgess built version of the JE Labs 76 FF preamp (which seems to have been Min's most popular build,) and it is very enjoyable to me (it replaced a Fi Y and Hagerman Cornet.)

It's hard to say. I like the WE91-300B derivatives but I also like the simplicity if the Korneff 45 SET. I probably want to build an interstate coupled 300B, kind of like the ones that I built using the 6b4g.
