I have recently purchased a Don Allen kt88 set stereo amplifier and am wondering if anyone else has any experience with this amplifier. I also have a Don Allen Linestage that to my ears is superb, any comments or other observations from owners or previous owners of Don Allen gear?

I have heard Don's KT88 amp and liked it so much I plan to have him build one for me using silver and copper output transformers. How many hours do you have on it? What tubes are you using?

I also own Don's preamp, 300B/320/520, 10/10y/801A, 45, and el84 amps, phono preamp and speakers. They all sound great and are much than the expensive equipment they replaced.

These are the monoblock KT88 amps..... And maybe the best amplification I've ever had. Plenty of power for the 100dB efficient Eminence coax speakers. The bottom pic shows the linestage as well.

Very nice setup!! I would like to know about those speakers. Your mono blocks have to be wonderful sounding. The stereo amplifier I have is one of the two best I have had the pleasure of owning. The other was the Einstein Light in the Dark Hybrid. Einstein makes great equipment but the Don Allen is at least as good and costs $10,750 less!! Don's Linestage is an even better bargain at $750. You can pay more than that for a mid level Denon Receiver. His cd players for around $300 are just good period regardless of what they cost.In my 40+ years of HiFi activity I truly believe that Don Allen's equipment is the best for the money I have ever come across, and on top of that,he is as honest and dedicated to this industry as anyone could be.

Contact Don about the speakers. I just finished a pair myself and my listening experience has risen to a level far beyond what I have ever known. Only have about 100 hours on them and they are breaking in nicely. I expect it to take another hundred hours to be fully broken in.

I'm auditioning a Prana Kensho power cord with Oyaide P-004/C-004 connectors, and had to use a stereo amp, so I'm trying it with the Don Allen 10 stereo amp. Maybe a slight edge in immediacy, where the KT88 has it at the frequency extremes, soundstage, and headroom. I could live with either amp(s) for the rest of time.

"I would like to know about those speakers."

Sorry, I initially missed this.

The speakers are also a Don Allen design. The drivers are Eminence 15" cast coax drivers with Pyle PDS341 compression tweeters with the ferrofluid removed. The boxes, stand mounted are 32" high, 24" wide, and 20" deep, with a front slot port.

If you're interested, you may want to contact Don for further details, including the crossover and other internals. Send me an email for contact info.

Thanks. Am really interested in getting in touch with Don Allen and Bob
Danielak. Heard their amps and was very impressed even though I have a pair of sweet sounding Wavelength Cardinals. Don't even know if these guys are still around. I know Don Allen was in the Phoenix area. Thanks again.
