This will be an easy one....

"...noone knows what it's like
to be the bad man, to be the sad man
behind blue eyes..."

Who sang it, and from what album does it come from. Does this group have a greatest hits? Thanks in advance!!

On their Who's Next album. It's called 'Behind Blue Eyes'. If you get the recent 16 track CD remaster you get two different versions of it.

>>Who sang it, ...

Roger Daltrey sang it.
And quite well, I might add.

What was on guitar, and I Don't Know was on drums. Yes had nothing to do with it. But Who sang it! :-)

Pete Townshend sang it too... since it's his song! As I recall, his demo is on one of the "Scoop" albums, and there's a mediocre (though not terrible) live version on his "Deep End Live" LP, as well as a new old solo version on the new "Lifehouse Elements" CD.

Marc, if you don't know "Who's Next" you're missing out on the single finest R&R album (IMHO) of all time. Period. And the aforementioned remastered CD even sounds halfway decent (a claim that the original LP and earlier CD versions can not make).

all the best,
mrh

It's called "Behind Blue Eyes" and it's by The Who. The album it comes from is considered some of there best work. Album is titled "Who's Next". They have a double greatest hits album called "The Kids are Allright", that traces there evolution from the early 60's British club scene to about the last album they made before there drummer,(Keith Moon), self destructed. They made several albums after "Who are You", with a new drummer, but lost some of the raw excitement and creativity they had with the original Quartet of: Pete Townsend on Guitar & vocals, Roger Daltry on Lead Vocals & harmonica, John Entwistle on Bass guitar, and "Moon the Loon" Keith Moon on Drums. My favorite stuff to listen to.
