There are full College courses on the Blues. 8^)

Song form developed in the South by African-American slaves. Arranged in a beck-&-call, 12-bar fashion, sung many times in the work fields... to express hardship and sorrows in their lives.

The blues is American roots music which talks about the feelings of angst and struggle. When listening to the blues the listener not only relates with the musician but also feels much about it.

Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters.

The blues is the accumulated folk wisdom of African Americans that imparts the knowledge to survive in a hostile world not of their making through coping strategies of resistance, defiance, indirection, parody, or resignation. "Trouble in mind, I'm blue/But I won't be blue alway/Cuz the sun in going to shine in my backdoor someday."

I would play some -
Some orriginal - Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker, et. al.
and some "new" stuff - early rolling stones, Eric Clapton, John Mayall, John Mayer...
It is a kind of religion- that has to be experienced....
Happy Listening

During the discussion, I had Muddy Waters going - two days later we topped it off by watching Blues Brothers
