Wow, Stereophile gave the Stones Blue and Lonesome 5 stars for SQ. Don't see many 5 Stars on non-classical/non Jazz albums. Wish we knew what equipment the reviewer used. Sounds a touch hot over my ProAc's, but I like it. DR be damned.

...the reviewer constantly puts down the Stones version of the songs, comparing them to the originals, then gives it 4 out of 5 for Performance (which I agree with).

Then he goes on to give it 5 out of 5 for sonics - he must be listening on a table radio. 5 stars to me would indicate state-of-the-art recording quality.

This recording is so rough and ragged sounding I can hardly stand to listen to it.

It sounds like it was recorded in 1963 not 2016 which perhaps is the sound the Stones were going for - 3 stars for Sonics at the most.

What the hell was he thinking?

I was very surprised at the sonic rating. I have only heard a couple cuts and they sound like they did it back when the began on a four track tape recorder.
