In my Metallica thread someone mentioned Budgie, which made me mention BTO and Nazareth, another mentioned BOC, which still gets some spins on classic rock stations. I'd like to see who you'd turn on a newbie to that you feel is good but you probably won't hear much on the radio, like Budgie, or my first pick....

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, the link is to my favorite album, What's Next. Maybe because it's the first album that turned me onto the band. I also like the live album and a few more but What's Next is the most consistent for me.

What a great tone from that Gibson. But, you can hear some strings going out-of-tune, by the end of the song. They could never fix that.

I'd never seen him before but I've loved his UFO and Scorpions work since the early 80s. His MSG albums never did much for me (except for 'Assault Attack') and I was thrilled to be able to finally see these songs performed live. Of all the concerts I've been to..well over 100 by now...I've never been misty-eyed until that one. He was absolutely perfect and his band was fantastic playing all of the UFO and Scorpions material. A month later I saw Uli Jon Roth: same story. Music that I've loved for 30 years but had never seen performed live until then and both men were perfect.

Nice one, I hadn't heard of them. Really heavy sound for that era.

That's digging up bones :)

How about Dust? I think they had more than one album but I dug one up on Amazon. I think it was one of those that if you look hard the fine print says dubbed to CDR.

Here's a track from Dust. Some comments on YT says these albums have been reissued, not sure how current that info is.

This is probably more trippy as a whole but who has Aphrodite's Child 666?

Who remembers Montrose? Rock The Nation, Bad Motor Scooter, Rock Candy.....

Ronnie had some solo albums

Going deep, how about Gamma, featuring Ronnie Montrose? I have 1, 2 & 3. I heard there was a 4 but I'm not sure if it was done while Ronnie was alive. This is from Gamma 2

Yes, UFO with Michael Schenker for sure!!

I play a Gibson Rudolf Schenker Flying V...but I'm always jamming on Michael's material. Shhh, don't tell Michael I'm playing his brother's signature guitar. They are feuding right now, haha!

Do they qualify. Pretty heavy sounds I have not heard from the airwaves or friends collections in some time.

Still spinnin'...

Sure Ashtra, why not. Thanks for the input.

Although, I did by one of their CD's when they were issued on disc several years ago, sounded like something I might enjoy, I like Fusion, but the orchestra was a bit too far out for me.

I listen to the Gamma1, Gamma2, and Gamma3 CD remasters regularly! This music was very important to me during my old college days in Berkeley :)

The list is virtually endless as the radio now only plays Journey, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven, and The Eagles Hotel California around here, it seems all but a few have been forgotten lol.
