How many remember the album 'The Turning Point' by John Mayall? John took a new direction after the breakup of the Bluesbreakers in May 1969, and started a new band without "heavy lead guitar and drums". I still listen to this album, one of Mayalls best in my opinion. I dont miss the drums. Some great work. Recorded live at the Fillmore East.

A really enjoyable album. My favorite by him also.

...I saw him perform a couple of years ago at 80 and he still does Room to Move.

Great show.

That album has been in my "frequently played" stack near the TT for many years...//nt, posted on October 20, 2016 at 05:30:25

I bought it when it came out. The Mark - Almond albums as well. I thought this was Mayall's best combo of musicians.

IF I recall, Mayall lost many archive tapes in a California house fire years ago, thereby killing any chance of expanded editions of his good work.

obviously, many years ago. There was a warm up act, Bacon Fat, that I actually liked better. Little did I realize at the time, because I didn't, that I was seeing John Mayall. I had no appreciation at the time.

I do remember his harmonica though. A nice club atmosphere. I think it was in 1970.
