Oh this brings back memories. If you were in San Francisco 20 years ago (some of you met me back then), you would have known about Buffy [Salongo], and her freestyle hit, "Give Me A Reason." Middle schools, high schools, colleges, Serramonte, clubs...everyone danced to this song.

During that Spring '96 season, my then-gf, ACS, was also my bowling partner, at Japantown Bowl. We had that "Give Me A Reason" CD single. On the way to other bowling alleys, ACS would bounce along. When she looked at the cover, depicting the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, ACS said that she looked like Buffy, "Just 3 inches fatter!"

Um, given that ACS wore shorts, blue jeans, or sports bras, yyyyyeeeeah, she somewhat resembled a chunkier version of the Buffy on the cover.

ACS also (correctly) pointed out that the north end of Baker Beach was clothing optional.

Stereotypical Audiophiles often complain that no one guides them, into the realm of freestyle dance music. What, am I "no one?!" Okay, as time permits, I'll cover more freestyle music. It was, and still is, immensely popular, here in San Francisco and Daly City. You just gotta get out, bring a friend, and immerse yourself.
