Some attribute Americana's beginnings with these LA guys. In some ways they are right, but IMHO they were a hybrid between Cowpunk and Paisley Underground. They did have chops and Gene Clark I just learned sang B/U with them...The Byrds were their idols, it was a big deal to have Gene join in...

"Two-Fisted Tales" still spins on the old turntable. Was quite into The Long Ryders and The Beat Farmers circa 1987
