I took it to the Gene Facebook page:
Roadmaster-The Unofficial Gene Clark Page
Where some folks who loved GC's music gather and give each other gems, and this is one.
I saw that version of RT's band back then and it was simply amazing...

.....
That was my favorite song off of Mr. Tambourine Man.
When I got out of the Navy (Feb. 1966) more than anyone
(with the exception of the Beau Brummels) The Byrds defined
(for me) 'where it was at' musically.
There is no doubt that Gene was a major player.
Sorta strange how McGuinn who was in the forefront at first
had way less later stardom than some of the others ......
(Crosby being the prime example)

who has thrived all along with the Desert Rose Band and Mannasas and and the Flying Burrito Brothers and later with his albums with Herb Pedersan and his bluegrass and Bakersfield sound.
The Byrds were an incubation group and they spawned much richness. Gene was their go to songwriter and their value to me musically fell off after he left...
Gene bought me a pair of ostrich skinned cowboy boots when he was in the Bay Area with Hillman & McQuinn. We sort of hung out and he needed boots and I took him to a great western store and watched him choose these incredible boots and when I said they were perfect he told the clerk to fit me for a pair. They were 350 bucks a pair in 1979 dollars. He was a kind and generous man and 46 was far too soon for him to leave us with no more of his amazing talent...
