So last night I went to hear Bob Dylan. I have heard him 3 times since the early 70s, and don't get it. Sure, his lyrics are probably up there with 60 hippie icons like Kerouak or Burroughs, but if the words are so completely jumbled, who cares. After only one song did my sister turn to me and say, that was the only good song all night long. She was right. I am not sure why, but I could make out darn near every word on Autumn Leaves. Has it not been for that one fine rendering of one of my favorite standards, the night would have been a waste.

I would not be surprised if BD can remember any of those lyrics. Did you see a tele-prompter anywhere on stage?

Saw him at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center here in upstate NY in the mid-80's. Fu**er mumbled his way through around 50 minutes of 'music' and shuffled his ass off the stage. I vowed I would never patronize him again in any way, and I haven't.

I am sorry to hear how bad he was. I had the same experience in the 1990's. It was a very disappointing show. It is unfortunate because he put on some amazing shows in the 1970's with the Band and the Dead.
