I remember once telling my buddy Ray that Sonny Landreth was the best slide player in the world. His reply? "Not if Ry Cooder ain't dead..."

No matter, I *greatly* enjoy both of those very fine musicians and have seen Sonny 4 or 5 times - what a treat!!

And I was also fortunate enough to score some very good seats for the short lived Little Village tour - maybe the best overall band I have ever seen. A memory that I will proudly take to my grave...

I always thought his studio albums were kind of bland and uninspired, but this show just blew my socks off. Great stuff!

on this live show I was fortunate to be at, Cooder sez, basically, that is it weren't for school
and the time he had to spend there, he coulda been GOOD at this (in reference to his guitar playing)!
Funny dude! I've seen him live several times over the past 25 years and
as a player he just keeps getting better, refining his art, taking it to another level.
THAT is fookin' incredible!!!!!

When's American Masters going do do an episode on this National Treasure?

You can probably find it here among other nuggets. I haven't had time to dive into this site yet, but would love to get my hands on some more shows like this one.

Absolutely terrific! Thank you for posting! -nt, posted on January 28, 2015 at 06:06:03
