If so, what is your favorite?

Big Science is wonderful - I also love United States-
Her newest album: Homeland is her most overtly political and has a nice DVD with it-
Love her stuff!
Happy Listening

Not a huge fan but I loved Big Science. Any others worth checking out?

Listening to an overtly political cd by Laurie Anderson would be my idea of torture. (nt) , posted on November 20, 2014 at 11:04:55

I like the lineup on Mr. Heartbreak, a little Gabriel, Laswell, Belew and Burroughs amongst others. Go to youtube and search "Walk the Dog" with her name. It was the B Side of the "Oh Superman" 45 and is really a hoot. May still be my favorite. Sorry I don't see use old embed code anymore or I would have.

My favorite story she told is of traveling and getting tired of it. She told of taking one of those cheap metal heaters with a plastic handle you plug in and then submerge into a cup of water to make tea or coffee and instead using it as a skewer to hold and cook a hot dog in her hotel room.

Sharky's World and all that. It was interesting, but without the video the songs themselves I always found a bit thin.

It's much like some of the performers today. My wife commented a while ago about Lady Gaga, and what was so special about her. My answer was that she made terrific mini-movie videos and apparently has an interesting stage show.

But if you just listen to the music, without the video, there's just not a lot there.

than trendy politics in music.

It is fine when it is ambiguous and makes you think through all of the iterations but when someone comes right out and gives you their opinion it is tiresome.

The difference between the first three CLASH albums and the three that followed. Can't listen to the latter.

I think Laurie Anderson's early records - up to UNITED STATES are very good and MISTER HEARTBREAK is at times an astonishing recording.

For the most part I agree. Bright Red has a few that are really good, such as World Without End, and Tightrope.

For some songs, that may be true, but for others, the songs easily stand on their own. Laurie Anderson, like many other experimental performers, has hits and misses. When its a hit, she nails it perfectly in my opinion.

Maybe I need to do some backtracking. Thanks.
