It has been awhile since I got to go to a decent rock concert.

Built To Spill was up in SF at Slims, (not a bad place to see a concert actually), and they were very good.
(One of my favorite Indie bands.)
The first warmup band sucked beyond belief, but the second warmup band was decent.
All in all, all three couples who went were very happy with the show.

And then I got to see Yes last night, (with Syd Arthur as the warmup band, who were okay).
I won the tickets, so Free is always good!
They were good, but not great.
(Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Alan White were there, but Jon and Rick were not - although the replacements were satisfactory.)
I had just seen them last year, when they performed, in their entirety, The Yes Album, Close to the Edge, and Going for the One, (with the same band, as I recall).
This time they performed Close to the Edge, (albeit this time they performed the tracks in reverse order), then Fragile, and a few cuts from their new album, and 90125 and The Yes Album.
Last year's set was about three hours long, versus this year's set which was about 2 hours long, (hence the not quite as good comment).
Still it was fun, and I even got to take my 14 y.o. daughter to her first concert - She now has a Yes shirt to commemerate it.
(She thought it was fun too, although she was not a Yes fan prior to the concert - I'll be working on her to become a fan now though!)
I beleive that they put this out on the internet for everyone to watch, thanks to Yahoo streaming it - I think it is still available to watch there, btw if your interested.

Anyway, if either of these concerts are happening near you, I can recommend them both.

Saw BTS with the Tucson band Lenquas Largus, 5-7-2013. Not a bad show indeed but it was the warm-up act that stole the evening.

...about 10 years ago I took my daughter about the same age as yours to see their reunion with Jon and Rick included.

They were spectacular and she really enjoyed it.

Chris Squire was terrific and is one of my favorites.

However, I passed on seeing them this go around without Jon Anderson.

Cool. I never saw Built to Spill live but enjoyed the Treepeople the couple times I went.

No, although I might if I find it on vinyl. -nt), posted on August 21, 2014 at 04:24:01

I was shocked to see them selling for $45 at a recent Tom Petty concert. What did you pay for your daughter's shirt?

The T shirt I bought her was $20. However, ..., posted on August 21, 2014 at 16:14:03

That was for the current album's artwork, (which was a cool emblem, albeit a black and white image, with the tour dates listed on the back).

The full color T shirts were $30, and the hoodie was $70! (Yikes)
