personally it was a very pivotal life changing year for myself. I was falling head over heels in love with the lady who, at the end of the year, would become my wife. I was walking on air, she was so special, sunshine walked beside her.
My dad died and at last his pain and agony from lung cancer ended and he was released from its iron grip.
And CSNY were on a manic tour and though I had known them since their beginnings and my former pal and roommate was their road manager, I had not seen much of them either on a stage or at a gathering or party that year.
Now along comes CSNY 1974, a box set with 3 discs and a DVD. I watched the DVD and what an amazing look at what they were capable of and how much musical magic they had.
4 years before I had a hippy type wedding in the redwoods that lasted for 3 days. There were a thousand people there and CSNY finished a gig at the Forum in LA, hopped a jet and arrived at our wedding in the dark and started playing while sitting around one of the fires. That was my friend Leo's wedding present. The guests were blown out of their heads, it was a time.
All these glimpses of my past came creeping back watching the DVD.
Now I will listen to the CDs, no telling what else will surface.

’74 was my last full year of college: part junior year, part senior.

I played in my first professional music group during June–September. The repertoire included many songs from the first three Steely Dan LPs. “Steely Who?,” I thought when I first heard the song list.

I was hiking and maintaining a section of the Appalachian Trail then, too.

And Nixon ended the draft between my second call for induction physical into the army and the date I was scheduled to appear for it.

It was a pretty good year for me, too.

...great friend and a great band.

That must have been one helluva' wedding.

and I had a friend in the service at Ft Ord, he was the guitar player for Paul Revere & The reunion tour. Drake (Leven) asked me to be the road manager for the trip. I had to decline for several reasons but told Drake that Leo would do a good job, so Leo went.
Next he was the stage manager at Woodstock.
Then he showed up at more door with Traffic in tow, he was their road manager.
Then he went with CS&N, their road manager.
Then CSN&Y which takes us to him arriving with them in the redwoods for our 3 day wedding.
I often have wondered what would have been if I went on the road with Drake & Paul Revere.
Leo thanked me with that gift....
There are many stories that branched off these various events....
This is the 5 cent version...

It sounds like you might have a couple books or so in you. Get busy. Write 'em and I'll buy 'em!
