Met Johnny Winter last year when he played inside Nevada City's Miner's Foundry. Got his autograph on Guitar Player's 1974 Rock Guitarists' tome, which had Jeff Beck on front cover & Winter on the back. R.I.P. Johnny Winter!!!

I saw Johnny & Edgar Winter (for the first time live) Oct 2, 2010, at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, AZ. They didn't play together at all - Edgar played the 1st half, Johnny played the last half. After the intermission, the audience was beginning to get impatient waiting for Johnny's appearance. Just then, the lights went low and the room went quiet. All we could see on the stage was a guitar, mike stand and a chair in the spotlight. A couple of figures moved slowly from the shadows at the edge of the stage and into the light - Johnny and his helper. He did not look good, hunched over and moving slowly. His helper eased him into the chair, put his guitar on his lap and moved off the stage. He pulled the mike into position... and started playing. I can't remember him saying anything before he began. He played one tune after the next, sounding as good or better than I ever remember hearing him. For over 2 hours he put everything he had into the performance and the audience was riveted.

I'm really glad I saw him. At the time, I was feeling that it may be the last chance I'd ever have. I guess it was.
