Thanks! for sharing.

Santana remains the most original rock monster group. No one like 'em. Not even any copycats. nt, posted on April 19, 2014 at 13:05:44

and a slew of bands and artists inspired and influenced by them to this day.

Some one hit wonders, some with legs - ALL wanted to be as successful as Santana, few were... even fewer were as "good".

But there were MANY copycats.

...are you kidding?

Maybe to someone who comes from South America.

And Santana lost that signature sound after their third album - when Neil Schon and Greg Rollie left to form Journey - going more for jazz or pop.

What about other super groups like Led Zeppelin, Cream and Traffic to name but a few who had a unique sound?

As to other Latin rock groups, have you heard Malo, Los Lonely Boys or Ozomatli?

that he worked on "Love, Devotion, Surrender".

I have a great live boot from a show of that very brief tour that is of acceptable (though not stellar)
quality. Same KILLER band...

Be happy to send you a CDR most gratis if you like!

THEY were as unique as Santana with their blend of musics.

Plus their first few UA LPs have fantastic sound, easily "audiophile" grade - but with GREAT music!

B.B. Dickerson's marvelous Fender Jazz bass tone and playing style on those LPs is a textbook example of how electric bass should be recorded.

Oh yes. I'm all over that. I have a 72 Cleveland Mahavishnu that's nice and a Gateway (Abercrombie,Holland,DeJohnette) from perhaps 75 that's cool as well. Let me know!

I saw the One Truth Band tour as a youngster with Airto added in on percussion and everyone else from the album. Great show!

Not just copycats, *perfect* copies. Get you a copy of Abraxas Pool. Abraxas Pool is a 1997 album by ex-Santana members Mike Shrieve, Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, José "Chepito" Areas, Alphonso Johnson, and Mike Carabello.

You could take any track from their album and place it on the Abraxas album and I guarantee you'd think it was original. If you like Santana you must check out Abraxas Pool...

It was *incredible*! The musicianship was absolutely flawless. And the interplay between John and Carlos was a thing of beauty...

Shoot me a private email and I'll send you a CDR copy as well. It's the Chicago show.
Wish I'd seen any of those shows - as well as the Santana shows that comprised "Lotus".
