When I listen two Music DVDS on my computer I hear pops & ticks ( Like A vinyl Record). Am using Soundblaster soundcard. With Klipsch GMX 5,1 speaker System. Note the DVDS are clean.

Thank You

You probably have some kind of buffering problem. See if you can adjust the buffer sizes using the software control panels.

Jack,

There a could be several causes to this problem. I assume you have the latest drivers for all of your equipment (if not start there).

You did not mention what type of PC and operating system you are using. If you are using a older PC with less than 1 gig CPU, CPU could be an issue, or if you have a newer PC and are running a lot of other tasks that could be problem too.

Begin your tests making sure no other applications are running.

Assuming you running Windows XP, open task manager and monitor CPU usage to see if it spikes when the clicks occur. Also using task manager, open the processes tab, sort by CPU usage, and watch what is running and see if something appears to grab CPU time when the pops occur.

If your motherboard is older than 2 years, you may have an interrupt problem. Check in Control Panel/System Settings/Hardware to see if the sound card has a interrupt conflict.

I am not sure what you are using to play your music, but if it has settings for sample rate check to see if it set to 44 vs. 48. Which ever one is active, try the other one.

Lastly try a different program to play the music and see if that helps.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Lynn

I had the same problem with a ASUS K8V Deluxe motherboard / AMD Athlon 64 combo. In my set up ASUS offers a smart fan function in the BIO's that caused my nightmare. Every time the circuit switched on and off it caused pops and clicks during audio playback. Check your BIO settings. After I switched the function off my problem was solved :)

This is why computer audio can be crap. You might try ripping the Dvds onto your hard drive and play from there. Try not to run other applications at the same time and uncheck all your sounds.

I had the same problem with CDs until I started using Foobar 2000 which cured the problem except when I run Outlook Express which causes a slight pause.
