 In a nutshell, Sound Siphon software provides extensive control of Mac OS audio routing functions, and allows free use in demo mode to control the audio output level when using the digital optical Toslink output jack of an Apple computer. Sound Siphon is a much better performer than a previous Soundflower software app that was very buggy and inferior from an audiophile POV. See link:
