Hi folks. Perhaps I'm a bit late to the party with this finding: Background. I was asking myself how to get my "Amazon Music" streaming service played back on my squeeze clients through the LogitechMediaServer (LMS). Amazon is not opening up the API as it seems. That's why there's no plugin on LMS. Hmmh!?!? I then found out that it is possible to stream "Amazon Music" over Airplay. Luckily there's a plugin on LMS called "ShairTunes2", basically an Airplay emulator. All squeeze clients on the home network will be shown as Airplay devices. That sounds like a right-on-the-spot solution. After installing the plugin and following the installation instructions, I had my squeeze clients showing up as Airplay clients on the iPad. Great. It took me not even 10 minutes to get going. I switched the audio output on the iPad to a squeeze client. After that I fired up Amazon Music. Guess what!?!? It worked right away. Very nice. There's one problem though. On Android devices I discovered a major (from my point of view) limitation. The existing Airplay emulator apps on Android require a rooted device to get access to the audio stream of different apps. Hmmh. I'd prefer not to root my Android phone. That's a dead end for me at this point on Android. Perhaps there are more options to accomplish "Amazon Music" on squeeze. If anybody has some ideas, please let me know. Enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------------- blog latest >> The Audio Streaming Series - tuning kit pCP |

I just tested streaming 384k and DSD128/DoP to my new MamboBerry. Samplerates shouldn't be the limiting factor from an LMS perspective. Haven't looked up the limits of Airplay/ShairPlay. However. I'm not a big fan of streaming services anyhow. Amazon Music is part of the Amazon Prime subscription over here. It doesn't cost me anything. Once in a while I play popular stuff as background noise. Bottom line. It's all there and working. It doesn't cost anything. It can be used. ----------------------------------------------------------------- blog latest >> The Audio Streaming Series - tuning kit pCP |
