what CURRENT MAC Product would you buy? I am aware that I would probably have to add both a hard drive and a CD/DVD drive for burning and uploading CD files to Itunes. I do not stream and I only burn from Redbook CDs. Also my new USB Dac is NOS only.

What i am more worried about is Apple killing computer audio that is not using ITunes music, or just exiting computer audio altogether with Macs.

until Apple does a major update to the Mac Book Air/Pro lineup.

Either that or just get a mid line Mac Mini with lots of RAM like I did.

Yes, my DAC is DOS multi-bit, no DSD only.

193/24 sounds pretty good from the Mac Mini via USB though.

And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass

Apple just announced the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch series 2 on September 7. They had a couple unannounced minor price adjustments here and there on other products that I noticed on their website but nothing very significant.

The MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineup are due for a refresh and most folks expect this to happen before the end of the year.

If you don't need the latest NEW MacBook Pro there's nothing wrong with buying a lightly used older model.

Very few newer upmarket laptops include a built-in CD/DVD drive for several reasons. 1)Save space for more important items like longer life batteries, 2)Save weight, 3)Reduce thickness, 4)Operating System Software and application software are more conveniently updated via the internet, 5)Internet speeds in most part of the country are sufficiently fast, 6)CD/DVD/Blu-Ray offer limited capacity as USB memory sticks and SD memory cards have far surpassed the capacity of physical CD/DVD/Blu-ray media, 7)External USB CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drives are compact and cheap if you really need one, etc.

I just bought a MacBook Pro last week. 8gb ram, newest OSX, nice Retina display, 128GB SSD, it was $1299 plus tax.

I don't like it, I use it only for music. I am not an Apple fanboy at all. I have a Chromebook Pixel that I use for day to day stuff.

In terms of Audio, just get yourself a cheap laptop and install Daphile Linux.

Apple products work the kinks out after every single time there is backlash.

I would never be the first in line with apple products knowing their QA. It takes quite awhile in their hardware cycle to work out the kinks.

I read stories of screens going dead, iPhones with problems, etc...

Only after sufficient backlash has any changed happened. Yet the fanboys keep buying it.

Lining up to spend a months salary for garbage. Then have to go through the warranty process.

I have had zero hardware issues with the many Apple products that I have purchased over the past 9 years. Can't say the same for my other brands.

In fact, every piece of Apple gear that I have ever purchased continues to work flawlessly. I've given some away to family members including old iMac, MacBook Air, iPods, early iPads, etc. I still have 3 Mac Minis that all work perfectly. My 2007 MacBook Pro works fine. I've sold a few old iPhones for cash and generally keep the previous model as a backup when I buy a new one.

Is your new MacBook Pro giving you hardware problems?

no, but it is giving me other problems. watching my credit rating go from 810 to 720 because I spent that much money in a month :)

I have an ipad that I got and no problems, what I am trying to say is the first batches usually have the problems. wait for the next big bad batch, knowing initial rollouts always have problems.

Yes, there's a higher likelihood of first batch problems vs waiting later into the production cycle, but this is true of pretty much any brand or product. For example, I would never buy the first model year of a car.

I was going to use the car analogy as well :)

thanks again for the help before in helping me find MacOSX so I could do a fresh install if I have to down the line.

I use the Mac 90% for music. But have started to rely on it more since I upgraded to Windows 10 on my PC. What a nightmare.

One of my USB ports when bad on my MacBook and the only way to fix it, I learned, was by getting a new main board, as the device went tits up.

I'm not sure that would work on a Wavelength Brick V2.
