I cannot figure out how to make this change,
cMP can run with different players, touchscreen or other utilities and perform preparatory actions such as mounting a DVD or adjusting process affinities. The settings are in C:\Program Files\cics Memory Player\cicsMemoryPlayer.pth
found this file but not the settings
How do you change the command path? Please help.

Open C:\Program Files\cics Memory Player\cicsMemoryPlayer.pth with Notepad and edit the entry CUE_PLAYER like this:
CUE_PLAYER #m "c:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" %C

The path to foobar200.exe has to correspond to the path on your computer.

There is another way. Say you have Foobar installed on your pc already. While in CMP instead of starting play by double clicking on a title you can click on the Explore button in the top right hand corner of the Cmp screen. This gets you into Explorer(Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer) which allows you to scroll through music files. Once you find a file you wish to play simply right click on it and in the Open With display click on Foobar. If Foobar does not show go to browse and find Foobar.

Yes came across this last night. What was happening was the cMP box disappearing on me when I double click the file in the cMP box starting the player which would appear and cMP disappear, figured out that if I open the player first and minimize it, then open cMP I could maximize the player start it and cMP would reappear, of course this was in XP mode, when going to cMP mode you have that restart, and cMP would load without the player thats when I found explorer gave me access to the music library. I've backed off on adjustments to the frequencies and voltages in BIOS have a ASUS P7H55-M Pro with the i3-530 intel and have not been able to convert the directions he gives for the gigabyte mobo to work on mine, but I have made it through the optimization section, next is the autoruns, kernal, and winlogon steps as soon as I feel like I know what I'm doing, I know this stuff is second nature to you guys but its new to me, felt good after opening a file up in notebook and replacing the command lines, didn't know how thanks to Bilbo and Ryelands, and to you sir.

It does do but, as I found to my cost in the early days, at a significant loss of sound quality compared to the proper setup. cMP.exe is a replacement for Win XP's shell (confusingly also called Explorer though it's not the same program as File Explorer) that improves sound quality but degrades the OS's flexibility, esp in "cMP Mode". That's why the cMP2 approach was designed for a dedicated audio player only.

Trust me, the difference is not trivial. I'm not clear what issues you're having with cMP/cPlay but strongly advise that you resolve them before going on to "minlogon" and buffer sizes and the rest, all of which (minlogon perhaps not so much) can reasonbably be described as secondary effects.

In passing, I set up a cMP-based system for a friend who wanted to use Foobar. I edited the config file as described above and vaguely recall doing something else (sorry but I forget what, it was some years ago). Using a dual boot setup (one conventional, the other cMP2), the user consistently reported signiciant SQ differences between the two configs.

HTH

Don't have to twist my arm, the problem is that cPlay is locking me out of the asio set up so I cannot change it from default 16 bit which of course is not supported to the necessary 32 bit and latency is not equal input is half of output, that could be because of the 16 bit default, I had access at the very beginning and was able to listen to some music late at night and very excited, got home after work the next day and had problems it was playing but the sound was scrambled, probably had the settings wrong based on my cpu configuration anyway now nothing, when the settings page in cPlay is opened the top section is grayed out so no access to my asio driver for setup???? I'm also not sure on how to set the player settings considering my L2 cache of 2x256KB and L3 cache of 4MB, right now I'm at output 96k, buffer Tiny, and L2 requirements doesn't allow use of SRC resampler???? Again can't gain access to configure my asio driver in cPlay...what I'm I doing wrong....Thanks Ryelands

With an i3-530 cpu you can user SRC resampling, no problem.

At this address you will find Italian site for cMP2 (you can Google translate it) with various extensions to cics original posts and a series of tweaks which should be useful to you.
