I have what I consider a very god dac with its superb power supply -47 labs-, and if I use a usb to spdif bridge like the m2tech hiface, etc, what are my options? I only see 24 192 files to download, would i be limited to 16 44 or 48 files? which i do not see anywhere.

Or can i convert these to 16 44 which seems to me is downgrading quality... Othe option would be to rip cd redbook to the computer but i am not really interested on that.
So is the option a new usb dac? Thanks.

There are a couple of things to consider

The format of the audio. This is often 16/44 (CD) but you can get downloads in all kind of formats. Most of the time 24 bits and sample rates 88/96/176/192
This is what we call highres

Next question, can you feed this formats into a DAC without sample rate conversion.

In your case you need a USB to SPDIF converter.
In the past they were often limited to 24/96 but today sample rates even > 192 are supported.

Last question of course is, what sample rates are supported by SPDIF receiver at the DAC.
If it is limited to e.g. 44 then you are forced to down sample everything to 44 kHz

I have the same problem as you..have a great dac which I do not really want to change. From all my research I narrowed down on the yellowtec puc2 lite Is reviewed to be pretty good. I've just got one but in he process of trying it out. I was serious about the audiophilio earlier.

Regarding content. Most software players today can down sample the music to 16/44. I guess getting a full HD dac would be he best approach but in my case do not want to make any changes to the sound as I am very pleased with it currently..hence not risking it.
