I bought an Intel HD Audio motherboard with a C-Media 9880 codec (Gigabyte 8I915P Duo Pro).

the "HD audio support" did not seem all that impressive. No ASIO driver. Cakewalk SONAR reported it was not able to support anything other that 44.1 and 48 kHz sampling. I was only able to enable 48kHz SPDIF out.

where is the hi-rez support? am i doing something wrong? maybe i should have bought something with the Realtek codec???

Anything from MS and Intel seem to be opague. Best is still to opt for 24/96/192 sound card. Creative is just as poor.
