Well, my 3 TB Seagate firewire drive failed, on which I use to feed my systems all my CD rips and hi rez downloads.

I keep two back ups. Ordered a replacement drive, a G-Tech 4 TB 7200 firewire unit from Amazon. By they way I absolutely love Amazon. In 15 years I have never had any thing but satisfaction. The handful of times I had to return items there was NEVER any questions asked, shipping was paid for, and a full refund was provided.

I received my replacement drive, which btw, was sold by a third party seller, which I also have never had an issue with. When I hooked up the drive, it mounted as "Editing Machine" which made suspicious as according to the start guide, should be "G-Drive". I also noted there were 98 "hidden folders", this all led me to believe the drive was previously used and returned. But it was flawless cosmetically, and all accompanying accessories were wrapped. But the drive was not covered in plastic..a bit unusual.

I returned it, no questions asked, noting I thought it was either refurbished or previously used, received my refund, and a new drive.

It was factory wrapped, mounted as "G-Drive" and all is well. Very impressed with G-Tech.

I've been an Amazon customer forever and even though their prices are not always rock bottom, they're usually competitive and their service is second to none.

You do have to be cautious sometimes with products that are fulfilled by 3rd party sellers rather than Amazon. And depending on the 3rd party seller's returns policy you sometimes have to pay for return shipping. I know that you cannot always buy items that are fulfilled by Amazon because they may be out of stock so 3rd party sellers come into play.

I've had Amazon Prime shipping forever and usually try to buy products that are Amazon Prime eligible even if that means it's ever so slightly more expensive than 3rd party seller prices with shipping. I have Amazon deliveries appear on my doorsteps a couple times a week.

I bought a $1000 Sony product via Amazon fulfillment / Amazon Prime several months ago. After trying the Sony for two weeks, I returned it for a full refund no questions asked, almost. Well, they did ask and in the comments box, I just said it was buggy and not ready for prime time. They paid for return shipping and UPS came by and took it off my hands.

Glad you had a backup and your return process was hassle free.

My experiences mirror yours.

I have returned a few high ticket items, in mint condition I might add, and it was hassle free.

I have had excellent luck with third party sellers...some have even been outstanding experiences....one comes to mind..I ordered a CD and they sent the wrong one...I alerted them and they not only sent the correct one..they insisted I keep the incorrect one.

This was the first bummer. I am now sure the drive was previously used.

But back to the G-Drive..copied 3 TB of FLACs in 2 hours....blazing fast....Now I have to repeat the process for the back up drive.

I just purchased another GRAID Thunderbolt drive from an Amazon seller for backup of my DSD files. I agree, Amazon is a pleasure to deal with even if there are problems.

I have 3 GRAID Thunderbolt drives now. The other 2 have been used for 1.5 years with no issues. These 8TB drives are fast and reliable.

Also, they lend themselves well with pairing with the HDPlex linear power supply.
