I need a new Mac O/S like I need a hole in the head.

Curious why this is posted in an audio forum...and not general?

Let me try to answer this for you. Mac users use the operating system to run their music software. It has a major influence on the sound.

I hope this was helpful.

Hardly. But provide a connection to audio.

Are you serious??? People are always talking about the OS and possible differences!!! The only people that cannot are the owners of devices that are stuck with whatever the manufacture put in the pretty little box. Good, bad or indifferent.

Maybe you know someone like that???

Thanks Steve - I'll be giving Yosmite a try but I kept a USB thumb drive Installer for Mavericks in case I want to revert back. I suspect Apple will soon remove Mavericks from their App Store if they haven't already.

Just curious what your motivation is for hanging out in a 'computer audio' forum when you hate computer audio so much.

you seek to twist and redirect a topic. Unprofessional post.

As I have pointed out before, your OS reference wrt to SQ 'floats' every year or so, depending on how some programmer with little interest in audio rewrites related aspects of the OS.

You have gone on record stating there are differences in sound between different Windows versions. I agree. So?

By the way, my Reference is presently Windows 8.1 slimmed down with Fidelizer Pro 6.1.

My reference is W8.1, posted on October 17, 2014 at 11:41:58

So, why have you not posted on the differences between this, and the various versions of OSX?

What is the point of 'upgrading' OSX very six months or so?

And why do you insist on using windows on an overstuffed Apple system?

"So, why have you not posted on the differences between this, and the various versions of OSX?"

Why bother?

"What is the point of 'upgrading' OSX very six months or so?"

The OSX updates seem to be every year and are free. Last year, Mavericks restored native integer support.

"And why do you insist on using windows on an overstuffed Apple system?"

I need OSX for reviewing. An example was my review of the exaSound e22 DAC. I had to evaluate the OSX ASIO driver.

The fact is, Windows 8.1 Pro 64 with Fidelizer Pro 6.1 sounds extremely good on the Mac. I have compared Windows 8.1 / JPlay with dedicated Linux server designs, and the Mac sounds great.

By the way, OSX sounds quite good as well.

Ah, great 'upgrading' for sound quality reasons.

If you don't at least compare a stable version of OSX v W8.1, how does anyone know, as a high end reviewer, that you are doing your best for sound quality reasons?

Also, if you refuse to adopt hardware that gets rid of fans, cramped cross-talking components, active cables, and quality power supplies in your computer chain, whilst using thousands of dollars of 'audio enhancement' products, how can inmates accept that you have a basic audio structure that they can follow to improve the quality of their own systems?
