My surprise is that with itunes and audirvana plus, listening to music, or does not reach the temperature at 40 ° C , with fan temperatures were higher !

I've also tried to torture your computer with Handbraque and converting a video , cpu 100 % , and the temperature reached 79 ° C , the same as with the fan!

The thread also discusses other mods for SQ improvement.

Does anyone know what he is talking about?

Looks to me like he is trying to troll the Mac users again.

Hey fred. What is the problem here? Why does it bother you so much that Mac users might like listening to their computers? I mean really, how does it hurt you? And since it seems to bug no one but you, why do you keep bringing the subject up when you can tear yourself away from your magic SATA cables?

All the Best!

It is rather unbelievable the APPLE folks seem to think that these extraordinary products require such zealous defence. It just doesn't add up ...

'Haters Gonna Hate!'

Apple is just freaking computer, nothing more or less.

What's different, if anything, is the operating system which seems to me to be MUCH easier to live with. That's after having owned a 'PC' of some sort since the first Apple II Plus and the first IBM PC.

I'm now down to two Windows PCs with obsolete operating systems no longer supported by MS and not practical to upgrade due to driver issues. I'm not planning to add to the misery.

And yes, I listen to music on my MacBook Air. I find Fred's constant need to post anti-Apple links to be very amusing!

I look at Fred's post differently Ivan. He was just pointing out that Macs can be modified like any other computer. The necessity for this operation is totally depended on the user's needs and balls.

Saw it, cool idea but lots of work to accomplish.
Personally, I cannot hear the fan in my Mac mini but some say just the fact that power for it is controlled from the MoBo may be a detriment. I did find significant SQ improvements after incorporating the Mojo mods discussed in the Audiophilia review and addendum review. I still have the fan though.

"Windows PCs with obsolete operating systems" - what in the world does that have to do with Computer Audio? What support do you need, exactly, for a machine, which serves single purpose of reproducing audio?

The nonsense that you, and Apple-fixated consumerist minority in general, post here is, frankly, simply embarrassing. Please continue to listen to music on your MacBook Air, or better yet, switch to iPod - just spare us your incessant defense of something that doesn't need to be defended.

Just a garden-variety moronic troll from HydrogenAudio, crapping here, because he's bored out of his shallow mind.

Mr Ear Wax's claim to fame is writing a little Flac converter years ago for JRiver. Now he is a computer audio expert... Go figure...

" I find Fred's constant need to post anti-Apple links to be very amusing!"

What is wrong??? How is it anti apple to discuss computer audio??? The info on CA can be applied to other systems also... Why can't there be a conversation without stupidity??? WTF...

Which person are you referring to? "Jaundiced Ear"? someone else?

What do you mean by "writing a little Flac converter years ago for JRiver"? Do you mean the JRiver MC plug-in for input/output of Flac format files?

That plug-in was written by an MC user named "scthom" when I started using MC in 2006. It wasn't officially supported by JRiver until later.

Since I wanted to use Flac and MC, I was mighty grateful to "scthom" for the work that he did.

has this weird idea that he thinks he knows who I am and attributes things to me that I've never said I did. Like this idea of me writing the FLAC converter for JRiver. I've given up trying to disabuse him of the notions he keeps dreaming up.

Look at the TEXT of his last two threads..., posted on August 24, 2014 at 14:09:21

"MAC Temperatures and Mods"

"But I can't hear the fan in my MAC"

Is there a pattern here? Note they both contain the term 'MAC'? Of course one could argue that he's referring to a large hamburger sold by a major fast food chain, but I don't think that's it.

And that's just the last two threads he's started, one a 'Troll of the Year" candidate as it currently has drawn 117 replies and counting.

Like I said, just a moronic troll, whose rightful place is with other (non-)thinking-alike humanure (term invented by American Death Metal band Cattle Decapitation) at HydrogenAudio.
