As I'm not listening to any smaller than 24/88.2khz bitrate files (& the majority are 24/176.4)
these days the 1TB (& smaller) USB drives I'm using w/ my Auraliti PK100 DFP just are'nt
"cutting it" any more. The 24/176.4 "albums" are averaging about 4 to 4.6 GB per album.

On my "Auraliti startup page" there are instructions for "Mounting an NAS drive". I'm way behind the curve when it comes to NAS drives. Is there even such a "thing" as a "budget"
NAS (a few hundred at most)

Thanks

This is what I'm using. So far it's working very well. May be more than you wanted to spend.

If a few hundred means without drives...yes.

About 5 months ago, I purchased a diskless WD EX2 for $200. I added 2 WD red 2 TB drives, running mirrored. Works fine.

If you are looking for a cheap and easy solution, use external USB HD’s
E.g. a WB My Book 4 TB set you back E 160,-
The Auraliti can connect to 3 of them.

However, USB is limited to 5 m max so you probably have them in your listening room (noise)
A NAS can be placed anywhere so outside the listening room.
Today’s NAS offer a lot of functionality: http://www.synology.com/en-us/dsm/index/software_spec#overview

As you buy a computer, a NAS is more expensive
Synology DS214 + 8 TB =569

The NAS looks good. What computer / player are you using to access it? Are you using it for anything in addition to your music files? Thanks.

I may just get a "handful" of additional 1TB Seagate USB expansion HDs. They are dead silent , i can hook them up to my Auraliti w/ the Audioquest "Coffee" USB cables (I currently
use) & on second thought i think I prefer to keep this a "Component" rather than "Network"
player.

I use a Motorola SBG6580 Modem/Router w/ Comcast as my ISP.. My router has been
rebooting itself (of its on accord) on a regular & random basis. With my music player set up as a "component" I pretty much ignore this nonsense. I don't think I want to change that.

Thanks anyway. I'm not sure I want to "fix" something that isn't "broken"

I'm using the WD NAS with my iFi Nano iDSD and an old HP laptop running Win 7 which I use for music playback only. I do use it to back up documents, photos and video files from my primary machine.

It gets a lot of use as storing the library from which I play back my movie library. I've had no problems with it at all so far. Far better than the LaCie NAS it replaced.

If your router has a USB input, you could hook on of these to your router. Your computer can access it like a network folder.
