Is Tannoy Turnberry SE a good match with Tenor OTL 75 ?

Folks,
I just received a pair of Tenor OTL 75 amplifiers. My speakers are Tannoy Turnberry SE. Sonically it is the finest amplification I have ever heard by miles! But I am not yet sure if it is comfortable driving the Tannoys. Sometimes I do feel (while listening to heavy passages) that the amps may be running out of gas. But I am not yet sure. Can any of the OTL experts give me some opinion on this amp + speaker match ?

Depends on your listening habits and the size of the room, posted on July 21, 2015 at 10:05:27

If the amp is struggling to drive the load, you will experience clipping a fair amount. If this is the case you either need more power or a more efficient speaker, maybe both.

I like to have the speaker as easy to drive as possible; no matter what the amplifier the result is usually better sound. You don't want the amp to work hard whether it is tube or solid state. That way the amp will make less distortion and so sound more relaxed. This is also true if the speaker is higher impedance (even if the amp is solid state).

75 watts is a bit marginal on a speaker of that efficiency in most average rooms. IOW it will likely work fine until you try to rock out...

I'd give it a listen-
The speakers should do well with these amps - and 75 watts should be fine - unless you have a VERY large room-
Happy Listening
