Season's greeting's everyone.

I had the MP-1 MK lll.2 upgrade done, and it is fabulous. Love the remote Caddock volume control.

However, shortly after returning, a slight vibration could be heard from the power supply chassis.

I have now found the time, and the possible problem. The transformer is humming.

I have a specific question. Could this hum be caused by something downstream, or does it have to be the toroid itself?.

Thanking you all in advance.

I had a similar issue. . .it was a bad rectifier in the power supply. Ralph turned the repair around in a week. Dead silent now. . .

I had exactly the same issue with my MKIII at one point..Ralph sent me a new rectifier (I did the install myself) and walla! problem solved...It was a bit of a challenge to install this part however.

Thank you David.

There is quite a bit of room in there. I'll contact Ralph. Should be a straight forward replacement.

As I recall, the tricky part was getting the capacitor leads off and back on without damaging them. You will need some Artic Silver or Eqv. If you have a lot of experience in mechanical and electrical mods / soldering / de-soldering, you can definitely do it yourself. Just use a high quality soldering station like a Weller & high quality de-solder tools. I did it successfully a long time ago..
