I don't know if I mentioned that, up to my Junior year in high school, my parents used to drive me from Garden Grove through the Diamond Bar area to my piano lesson in the Ontario/Pomona area. I'll bet it's way different these days! ;-)

Brahms 4, they were ragged 2 wks before and during dress.

My kid is quoted, about the piece. And she is sitting in front, because she was co-president.

Amazing, you were a SoCal native. I drive the area all the time, and the 57 and 60 intersection is famous--for traffic jams. Perpetually. Diamond Bar is almost all Asian now.

Going past your piano lesson, you will get to Claremont, where the rehearsals occurred each Sunday for the CYMO groups. Pic is from dress rehearsal, 5.17.2015, for CYMO's 2015 last concert. Rachel Koh, cello, playing Tchaikovsky Rococo Var. (I guess some here don't like the piece).

I feel that many locations in Southern California had a kind of "magical" aura to them. Perhaps I feel this way partly because I associate them with the discovery of certain musical works which became such life changing experiences for me. But that's not all of it by any means. I feel that there's just a kind of "magic" down there. ;-)

We are starting audition season. For Rachel, she followed her brother to Stanford U.

Hi Doc! This is your old neighbor from the heights :-)

Congrats to the orchestra on the accolades and trip. We know a couple of kids that went.

Last year and this year we're doing Colburn Youth Orchestra. Both mine were in it last year (#1 is now at college in Oregon). #2 has a couple more years left. They are hopefully traveling to eastern Europe next summer, and heck, we might chaperone for that one!

I hope all is well with you! The old neighborhood is great, though looking kinda brown. Oh, and #1 babysat for the family that lives in your old place. How cool was that?!

Your kids must be very good musicians.

We had a chance to go down to Colburn recently to have Gustavo Dudamel rehearse the young people prior to our last concert of CYMO.

Unfortunately, it was the waning days of Mr Roger Samuel, conductor of our beloved CYMO and CYMO Intermezzo orchestra, who passed on 8.29.2015. He leaves a family of musicians, 26 year legacy and an uncertain future.

My friends live down by the Colonies, and one lives near you on Campus just below 24th. We drive by occasionally.

So sorry, I'm hearing of Dr. Samuel's passing from you. Very dedicated couple, and I'm glad for the year Sara played there.
