Having listened to WF Bruckner 7, 8, and 9 in some of the latest remasterings, the performances are undeniably great. But the very poor SQ is a total turn-off, for me.

So I am wondering if there are similar interpretations with excellent sound.

I've been slowly working my way through it and so far am pleased. Good sound and stirring performances.

But as I remembered, Bruckner can be a bit bloated. Seems like he just didn't know when to stop.

Wand recorded full cycles at least three times. As I remember once with Cologne Radio Symp. and twice with the Berlin Phil. The recording of the 7-9 were also done by Eugene Jochum. I like Jochum and Wand, especially Wands 8th recorded at the Lubeck Cathedral.
I have not bought many discs recently, but when I did I liked to check "The Penguin Guide to classical" which was published in the early 90's.
Another source for who recorded which Bruckner is the cite linked below.
It's interesting that some of his works were revised by himself and this site lists who recorded which revisions.

I always thought that the most "Furtwanglerian" modern conductor is Barenboim, especially is his most recent set of blu-rays with the Statskapelle Berlin...

I personally call Sergiu Celibidache the "Wilhelm Furtwangler of Bruckner".... But Sergiu's reads of Bruckner are quite different from Furtie's........
