And fifteen years after her Philips debut recording, which included her own compositions (which I think the NY Times called "dinner music kitsch"!), Nina Kotova looks like she's still a babe - and maybe she can even handle these mighty Bach challenges. ;-)

Amazon says it'll be available in 3 more days. Hopes are high!

Since the focus of these "babe" posts seem to mostly be about how nubile the soloist is, why don't you take them to someplace like 4chan. Why do they belong in a music forum?

If a musician is good looking that might help with the career.

But surely this forum is about their actual playing?

Frankly, I'm expecting the actual playing to be good, but we'll know in a few days, posted on April 13, 2014 at 23:07:21

In the meantime, I just wanted to get the "heads up" out! ;-)

I'm not into this "babe" thing, but here are a couple more women cellists who have recorded the complete cycle of Bach cello suites.

Maria Kliegel

Karine Georgian

Why are you participating in a thread in which you have no interest? Why don't you go post in a thread that is more to your liking?

"Since the focus of these "babe" posts seem to mostly be about how nubile the soloist is, why don't you take them to someplace like 4chan. Why do they belong in a music forum?"

Also, may I point out that it is always the babe protestors that are focused on, and get all lathered up over, the nubility of the babes in question.

So I ask you, please point out the nubile aspects of the Nina Kotova album cover that Chris posted.

What? You can't? Maybe that's because whatever nubility you are complaining about in your post only actually exists in your dirty little nubile-obsessed mind?

Like buying a Mustang or using hair dye. You were expecting this had something to do with music?

Incidentally, Mustang's were always second rate cars, and hair dye? Read Death in Venice.

...microphones in that pic, eh? And the church ambiance is soul satisfying.

Also, I wonder how many of the other women cellists have graced the pages of Elle and Vogue as Kotova has? For babe musicians, you can't have much more highly-regarded credentials than those! ;-)

Oh, please. The whole "babe" thing is just a way to put accomplished young female artists in their place -- as objects of male desire -- while pretending to admire them. It's transparent and pathetic.

So in your vision of a better world for females, what "place" would you have the babes be put in?

Perhaps erect a curtain on stage that they could perform behind? Maybe you would have them wear a shroud and thereby avoid this "male desire" thing you write so passionately about?
