Hi,

I found this on Amazon, about 25 bucks.

Dayton Audio iMM-6 Calibrated Measurement Microphone

Has anyone used this with the PC version Room EQ wizard?

I want to use it on my low end acer laptop but I'm not sure what USB sound card
is required. Are the $8-25 usb sound cards good enough?

I finally set up my Maggie MC1's. I'm just curious what the frequency response is.

Completely new to this. So Room EQ software generates an audio sweep from
20-20KHz, the mic picks up the levels and that sweep gets recorded?

The Dayton mic I guessed designed to plug into iphone and app just measures whatever
sound is playing. Not sure how a sweep can be done through iphone since no audio out
to the audio amp,

I guess your laptop does not have a Usb port, right? what is your end goal for this activity? Do you want to measure and eventually correct the response in your room? Do you stream music? Do you use Roon?

My laptop has a usb port, Windows 10. I want to keep costs down since it is non critical.

I just want to do a sweep to see where the lows and high are rolling off at. No room correction.

I have never used Room EQ. If I can get away with the $25 Dayton mic and $20 usb sound card,
that would be great.

Would this suffice?

Yes that should work with the microphone you selected. The MC1 roll off at close to 100 Hz. You should add a left and right sub ideally and the measurement set up should help you integrate them with the MC1. Plenty of help on the net on how to use REW and how to interpret results.
