These are not Magnepan, he made them from scratch by himself (different wires/magnets). Cleaning very old Magnepan drivers there use to be some traces of the old glue left. It seems that the very old glue reacts with light over the years. The tiny spots line up with the holes in the sheet metal.

The adhesive came right off the Mylar on my IVA's with acetone. That's the intermediate adhesive (Miloxane?), rather than the original UV-sensitive stuff that I assume Roger is talking about.

The picture above shows an very old Tympani ID, about 1977 or so. I have not check what it looks like on my Tympani IIIA from 1976.

The aluminium tape that Joppe uses, can be bought in the UK: https://themaskingshop.co.uk/product/aluminium-foil-tape/

That tape cannot replace the thinner wires of a Magnepan tweeter. You can use it for bass but there will most often be a reduced efficiency as the foil is not sitting in the most dense magnetic field.

Thats funny to see one of my own videos linked :)

and yep Roger is right these are my own design. so a bit cleaner then a 20 year old maggie :) in terms of glue. i buy my tapes from the maskingshop.co.uk. but they only got one thicness. one that is to thick for tweeter use. but worked out nicely for a 1D bass panel. getting exactly 8 ohm. i sold those :( for faaaaaar to little with original working pushp pull tweeters to a guy from belgium :) should ahve known if someone is willing to drive that far for a set haha
