Your speakers, however, are too big.

Try to put the "Tweeter" in front of the left and right of the mid / woofer at a distance of 60 centimeters (2.6 Inches) more on the "woofer" side, you will gain in depth. I did it with my Timpany ID with an exceptional result. Good Music!

Which one is that?

Looks good, but 60 centimeters is quite a bit more than 2.6 inches. ;) (nt), posted on October 25, 2018 at 07:19:18

That would work nicely with the 1-D's I think, because it eliminates their main flaw -- the lateral offset of the woofers from the tweeter that smears the image.

Easy, bust down a few walls.

When I started going to Stereo Design in San Diego, they had 7 or 8 sound rooms, some pretty good sized. Even the lobby was well set up and the 'budget room' was ok, too.

Then the crash hit and they did their sell-off from 3 room, including the office and maybe 500 square feet total. They had some 20-series panels and I have NO idea how they were demo'd or even how they sounded in what amounted to a large closes. Even smaller than many hotel rooms at shows.

So Yes, it's possible to have a room that's too small at a dealer. Even DSS up in Carlsbad has a real odd-shaped lobby, a 2 desk and TV office BUT a very nice sound room with a constantly rotating equipment list. And a Music Server with a really Gigantic Selection.
Too much is never enough

That is since the T1D has a symmetrical crossover while the 30.7 is supposed to be time aligned with a more complex series crossover.

IIRC, the 30.7's are actually time aligned when the MT panels are slightly behind the plane of the woofer panels, presumably because they're closer laterally, so that maintains a constant path length.

If you moved the MT's in front of the woofers, I think you'd have the same situation as the IVA's in split configuration. You'd want them in half integral multiples of the XO, flipping polarity as needed. But this is presumably more problematic in he 30.7's than it is in the IVa's, assuming the midbass/midrange XO slope is gentler on the 30.7.

The 1-D's are single pole and at 1 kHz the XO frequency is smack dab in the middle of the midrange, with about 1/3 the wavelength as well. The best solution I think would be to do what I've done with my IVa's and use digital delay on the 1-D's tweeter (or the 30.7's MT panel) to bring everything into time and put the XO lobe in the right position.

I solved it by placing the mid tweeter behind in the tweeters in config and further out than equidistant in tweeters out - when using asymmetrical crossovers, and equidistant when using symmetrical. Works just fine, and no digital processing nor extra AD DA steps.

That's what you'd do ordinarily, but mine image a lot better with the drivers parallel to the front wall. Since I oriented them that way I've had no inclination to toe them in, although I suppose I should try it again now that the acoustical treatment is in place.

Hi,
if possible, I would like to see mating pictures of H/K Limage's room.

I'm making some new stands for the Timpany IDs and I'd like to understand how to optimize their position/listening.

Thank you
