There have been some recent posts on contacting Magnepan.

I called them last week, left a message for parts and the call was returned with in 24 hours. The parts were posted the same day as the return call. Over the 20 years that I have owned Maggies, they have always been helpful and responsive (even if I had to leave a message on voice mail).

I've never had a problem with their service. Guess they're off once in a while as seen elsewhere here, but it happens...

"It happens", can I receive a special discount if I praise their service (even though I'm not a manufacturer)?

I've been in manufacturing all my life, and trust me, "it happens". It happens at my day job, it happens at my weekend job, it happens at Magnepan, and every other manufacturer out there. If Magnepan had it happen to you, you should contact them (or Josh?) if you feel you should warrant a discount. As for receiving a discount for praising a company, I doubt that will happen. Praise is due where praise is due.
In general, in my work experience, discounts are only provided if the customer has suffered financial burden due to a mishap.
If you think I have received any special discount as a manufacturer, I have not. I have purchased socks for my old IIIA's and 2 pairs of MMGW's for surround duty directly from Magnepan. I did not request a discount nor did I receive one.
I do my best to praise manufacturers of products that I am happy with, as I also appreciate praise when due. Do unto others... you know. This goes for audio equipment, car stuff, good service at a restaurant...

I intended this 'discount' business to be funny. At my age I have no intention of buying another Maggie and consider myself fortunate in still being able to hear those that I have and don't want more Maggies, discounted or not. I'm the original owner still having functional MMGs, a 3.6 and Tympani IV-A and think that's more than enough. I was also the original owner of a Tympani 1C, but sold it long ago. It's possible that I would still like to get something fixed because I was frustrated in trying to make it happen.

As for the matter of discounts, I was involved in a private email exchange with another inmate and when the matter of cost came up he wrote that he wasn't at liberty to give me any information and because of his profession he bought Magnepan products at discount. Otherwise, the matter of Magnepan discounts would never even have entered my mind.

If I hadn't experienced a service problem I would never have become involved in this discussion. I already described what happened at least twice, and it's really too boring to do it again. Nevertheless and briefly, it took about three weeks to get any response to 2 phone call messages. When the service person returned my call I was told to email him (service@magnepan.com?). After doing that I received a email reply telling me to phone him. As you can appreciate that doesn't fall into a 'it happens' category, and needless to say neither merits praise nor a discount.

I, myself, took it as a joke Norman. You develop an impression of people after a certain number of posts, and you strike me as being one of the good guys ;-).
