Hi folks! First post here, so be gentle...

Bought a set of '04 vintage MMG's a few months ago (they are truly amazing, and I've owned double Advents, Dahlquists, Vandersteens and higher level B&W's over the past 30+ years). However, play some piano at higher volume, and they definitely need an apparently all too typical repair... tacking some wires back down to the mylar. It looks like the accepted process is to use acetone to remove the failed 3M Super77/original milloxane gunk, then DAP weldwood to stick the wires back down.

But then what?

Searches I've done here have suggested milloxane, acquired from Magnepan (in warmer weather as we have now in the upper midwest), then a bit later folks seemed to favor DAP touch n' tone clear, and then there are some mentions of a similar clear acrylic product from Krylon. Looking into Krylon, they actually make a 'triple-thick' clear as well as their standard clear. Figuring since a few areas have failed, I should treat the entire panel with some sort of sealant.

Am also planning on doing to do a 'half-razor' as long as I'm at it.

Anyway, any thoughts on what's the latest and greatest 'sealant'?

Look up PG's magnestand and see what he suggests as a sealer, if anything. He reframes MMGs for a living and has more experience with that model than anyone else.
