Can Martin Logan do Rock at loud volumes ...

 Without crapping out - I'm more concerned with the medium Logan's like Montis or the new Impression 11A. I've heard that when called to task they have issues.
Now I'm not talking about listening for extended periods like that, but if I wanted to hit the gas for a certain passage and let er rip, would they fall apart?

 I say 'yes'. Any of the logans with the powered subs will knock you over if you really want to crank them in my opinion. In particular , montis on up.

I've listened to montis and had it cranked - almost ran out of the room as I knew a huge 'hit' was coming and they were quite loud.

If you throw crap recordings at them you will hear it. And not all rock is crap recording - but some is. The montis had what I decscribe as punchy bass. I am not a fan of punchy - but smooth. I have yet to hear the masterpiece series but given the size of the cabinet - I am wondering if that smoothed things out.
Also - the stats will excite the room a bit at loud levels since they are di-poles. So if you have a lively room you can expect room overload unless you have appropriate room treatments

One other note re amolification. The logans impedance dips pretty low in the high frequency you will want an amp that can handle that. I can understand amps having issues - not necessarily the speakers . Saying that the series with powered subs is easier to drive since the low end is handled by the powered woofers A lot of the guys on the ML forum like solid state with a tubed pre My 2 cents

 If you were to choose a speaker that really rocks, Martin Logan would not be at the top of the list. They work fine for me but I have learned not to shake the house down, it gets expensive when you push the limits.

 I have lived with the Montises for about 7 or 8 months now. They can easily get louder than I can tolerate without crapping out. They do rock reasonably well. That's not why I got them, but I do occasionally crank them up for a Dead concert. I'm more likely to overload my room than the speakers.
The bass is tight and fast and relatively deep-in my room they go down to 30 cycles (flatish) then drop like a rock below that.
FWIW, they respond well to different power cords.

 Just looking to crank them at certain times - just to get the juices flowing.
What to hear the big Tom toms and kick drum bass and snare cracks.
Dynamic swings - will they be capable without damage ?
The other posters think they will be alright
Really like the sound, but don't want expensive repairs..

 What kind of amp do you have? I have mine biamped w 850 on the stat and 850 on the woofer into 4 ohms. My odysseys go plenty loud. Have never had an issue and have never heard of anyone damaging their logan with high volume. Some of the older models had issues as the aged and the panel would start to get dull sounding. Mine haven't. And the new ones do not have the issue.

These are non smoking - low humidity types of speakers. I.e. Not best for the tropics. Remember the stat has a static charge so smoke, dust get attracted to the static charge on the panel.

I too am curious to Russ's comment. Not sure if he was referring to the speaker being damaged or things in the room. :)

 IMO, they can be cranked up without any real problems. I'm driving mine with a 60 W Pass amp in a 19 X 23 room. Granted, they are not horns, but they are surprisingly dynamic, more so than I expected.
That said, I do have to vacuum them about every 6-8 weeks for them to sound their best. They do attract dust.

If I was picking a flat panel design for robust use, I'd pick a big Magnepan. Almost indestructible. It's a fine line on an Electrostatic design between satisfyingly loud and the start of arcing.
