It appears to be very high quality woodworking, and I assume that may be Birch ply. So would be fun to audition.

However I suspect a little less WAF than stock 1.7s.

Wow, nice work....what is that base and how did you attach the frames? Crossover values any different? Impressive.

Beautiful woodworking and a very interesting concept. Thanks for posting - I will pass this on to a couple of mates of mine with 1.7s. :-))

The panels seemed to be screwed to the frame?

Regards,

Andy

Those are wood frames taken to the nth degree. Quite a bit of overkill in that aspect and it completely ruins the nice slim aesthetic look the speakers have stock.

I'm not sure what the objective was, but it wouldn't be what I'd do.
Oh well.

Dave.

Nor I, surely God didn't intend for them to look that way, but God knows how they sound.

My guess would be it's the same objective Dr. West has with using heavy tubular steel frames for the U-1PX stats. :)

I think one could take it to the after life. The 1.7m 'mummy' version..But then maybe it sounds really good.

No, I think not. At least not in the same integrated structural aspect.

I think what we have here is the touted wood frame scheme just taken well beyond the advantage envelope it can provide. Structurally, obviously solid as a rock, but there are acoustic impacts created by this that may or may not be advantageous. I suspect the latter.

Dave.
