like the moon
you are changeable
ever waxing
ever waning

So opens the poem Carl Orff set to music in Carmina Burana. So it is with my fortune in the planar speaker realm. Eh, life goes on and some waxing in the future is likely (unless I bite it). Neither pair of Maggies is going anywhere.

The 3.7s are safely tucked away in their box, which won't even leave the room. Thanks to the mysterious 'I', non-I 3.7s have been prematurely devalued. So, I'll keep them and 'I' the piss out of them - leisurely.

My MMG-I (hey, they're improved far beyond what Magnepan would find practical) will be my daughter's whilst her Def Tech Mythos ST speakers are in my room (long story).

...and now for something completely different (speakers with enclosures and without ribbon tweeters).

Hey, Waz! I don't know the particulars of what is forcing such a severe audio diet on you but I hope that it is over soon. On the bright side, food always tastes even better right after dieting ends, does it not?

BTW, if the mysterious "T" thing turns out to be like what I did to my MMGs a few months before the "i" mod was launched...I will let you know.

...the crux of the biscuit is that the mancave will serve as my sleeping quarters for a while (a year or three ;-). It's really not that big of a deal - just first world problems. I can no longer afford to meet the expenses of two houses (at least I don't have a mortgage on either one) on my three day a week paycheck. My relocation was part of a solution that seemed the most equitable to me.

The comparison between the two types of speaker is interesting. Each design has something on the other. It's also pretty funny to reduce the size of one's speakers so significantly, yet realize a meaningful improvement in bass reproduction.

What the heck, I have a new amp, preamp and a center speaker on the way. I sit just over eight feet closer to the screen. I no longer benefit from wearing my glasses. From the viewpoint of one of the room's purposes, things have improved quite a bit.

Life is a game of give and take. I'm still having plenty of fun.

I am (as far as I am aware) just fine. :-), posted on April 24, 2015 at 15:30:29

I hinted at the gist of the situation in my response to JBen.
