Magnepan is so confident you'll like the 1.7i, they'll give you $100 cash if you don't

Are they that confident or is business that bad?

If they did something like that on the .7 I'd take them up on it. Don't have room for 1.7's.

If we and the dealer agree that 1.7is would be the right speakers for you, we will ship the speakers directly to your continental USA location.

The dealer is doing the work of filtering out the tire-kickers and anyone else who just wouldn't just immediately hug 'em and pet 'em and squeeze 'em.

First time I've ever heard them use the term "ribbon speaker" too; (they only manufacture a ribbon tweeter):

..."Millions of consumers live too far from a Magnepan dealer to hear for themselves why they might want to own a ribbon speaker. Now, we are making an offer to these customers to bring the speakers to their homes".

As far as I know, Analysis is the only full ribbon speaker currently on the market.

Magnepan believes they are so very good that you will bust down a couple of walls making room for listening to them. :-)

Are Analysis Audio speakers all ribbon?
That was a new one for me.
From what I know, their speakers are membrane basses with ribbon on the high frequencies.

Cheers!

Now that I've read their website more thoroughly it does seem to lean in your direction. And although their first page makes 5 references to "planar ribbon speaker" it's not until you dig deeper into their site that they begin to mention "bass membrane and ribbon tweeter.

Amazing.

I wouldn't be surprise if they first offered you $100 off the initial price of the panels ($100 cash PLUS round-trip shipping-which could "easily" cost the company $400-$500 by the end of the day).

I can picture your friendly local audio dealer in your living room casually swinging a sock full of quarters saying "you DO like them don't you"?

I was wondering what was going to happen May 1st when it expired, posted on May 1, 2015 at 12:36:14

As it turns out, it got extended to June 1st. Even so, is the deadline arbitrary or does something happen to the 1.7?
