I had some 8' Anti-cables (12 AWG magnet wire) lying around as I now run XLRs from the active XO to the amps which are sitting directly behind the speakers like mono amps. I decided to wind the cables so I now have 4 coils with a inductance of 4.7 uH. I am using them as speaker cables from the amp to the mid-treble external xo-box. This gives me 9.4 uH -- so good-bye chokes. The resistance was too low to measure but I calculated a total resistance of 25 mOhms. The JW Miller 5502 has a DCR of 17 mOhms. I have not had time to do a critical listening but so far it sounds good. I have also built RC networks for the tweeters and will compare with and without and also with the RC network and no inductors or coiled cables and report back in due time.

Actually variable chokes. The inductance can be reduced by stretching the coils. Fortunately the exact value is far from critical.
